My name is Brian Frederick. I was surfing the net recently, when
I found your site. I served on the Twining from late 70 to mid
July 71. At that time the Twining was stationed at Treasure
Island and was being used as a reserve trainer. I was a
member of the decommissioning crew. My rank was RM3 (Radioman 3rd
Class). I had just come back from South East Asia with approx. 1
year left in the Navy, and was placed aboard the Twining. At the
time of the decommissioning, all members of the crew that had 6
months or less to go in the service were given an early out
(Discharge). While I was there, we made 3 voyages, Victoria,
British Columbia, Ensenada Mexico and Eureka California. I don't
remember in what order those trips were made. We made these trips
as ambassadors (spit and polish) and gave tours to the civilians at
each port. I would appreciate it if you would include my name on
the Twining's roster.
I have included some pictures taken and a list of the entire
decommissioning crew. In the picture of the Operations Division,
I'm standing in the front row, second man to the right of the
LTJG. To my right on the picture was my good friend Raul
Rodriguez. Another close friend of mine was Robert Hansen, in the
Supply Division. He and I still communicate and see each other
every few years.
Thank you, I have enjoyed the
memories.
